My first blog: How to set up a tent the size of an RV

We needed to waterproof the tent seams for our own peace of mind, and we set up the tent outside this morning to spray it.

These instructions are mainly for the benefit of my dear younger sister who will be borrowing our tent right after we get back from our own tent camping vacation.

Please note that the instructions are above each picture

Step One: Lay it out

Step Two: Put the roof ridge-line poles on first. The poles have colored tape on them that matches their sockets. We put the top white ridgepole on first then the back of the roof line then the supporting poles between.

Step Three: Attach the poles for the other side of the roof.

Step Four: Create the gables

Step Five: Attach the orange side poles all around and get a picture with a cute little girl in front of it

Step Six: Go inside the tent to install the flexible poles for the closets.

Step Seven: Put the rain fly over the top of the tent and hook it to the poles

And it's done!

Huge, isn't it?

By the way, I weeded my empty garden after we set up the tent. That has been on my mental guilt list for awhile.

Anna napped during the entire operation in a peacefully quiet house.

After that Lily got to play on her playground while James sprayed nasty-smelling sealer on the tent. I made pizza for lunch and then James went to work.

Vanessa came to plan our camping trip meals and packing lists, and inspired me with the idea of a blog. This is easier than emailing everyone every day!
